Ralph Torrie

Ralph Torrie is a Managing Director at Navigant Consulting. He is an expert in the field of energy and environment with 35 years of entrepreneurial and consulting experience that includes hundreds of initiatives in research, business development, and advocacy. He has made original and important contributions in the field of sustainable development and has been actively engaged in the climate change issue since 1988 when he helped organize the Toronto Conference on the Changing Atmosphere. During the 1990’s he pioneered the methods and conventions that are now used throughout the world in local greenhouse gas quantification and analysis. Over 25 years ago, Ralph was the project manager and principal researcher in the first soft energy path study for Canada, and since then has done numerous scenario analyses of low carbon futures.  He has worked on the climate change issue in California at both the state and local levels, having led a consulting team for CARB that modelled the economic impacts of AB32, and more recently played a central role in the development of San Bernardino County’s GHG reduction strategy.  He is a recipient of the Canadian Environment Silver Award for his work on climate change response strategies.
